OMRON Exchanges Opinions at United Nations Global Compact Conference - Introduces Carbon Neutral Initiatives -

OMRON Corporation (Head Office: Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, President and CEO: Junta Tsujinaga) participated in the "Annual Local Network Forum 2024 High Level Meeting" organized by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC).

This meeting is held in conjunction with the Annual Forum for Local Networks, where UNGC Headquarters and local network employees working in various countries and regions around the world discuss, once a year, the policy of activities to promote corporate sustainability.
OMRON has been a signatory to UNGC since 2008 and has been working to resolve social issues through business activities in accordance with the 10 principles in 4 areas (Human Rights, Labour, Environment and Anti-Corruption) stipulated by UNGC. OMRON was invited to this meeting in recognition of the fact that it is a company that promotes relevant activities and initiatives and leads the role of the private sector.

On the day, Ms. Sanda Ojiambo, Assistant Secretary-General and CEO of UNGC, and top executives from 12 Japanese companies exchanged views on climate action and gender equality. From OMRON, Tsutomu Igaki, Managing Executive Officer and Sustainability Executive, attended and introduced the promotion of carbon neutrality at manufacturing sites under the theme frame of "Climate Change Countermeasures."

  • "Achievement of Carbon Neutrality" is one of the social issues that OMRON addresses in its long-term vision "Shaping the Future 2030." In the control equipment business, OMRON is working to improve energy productivity by both improving productivity and quality at manufacturing sites and reducing energy consumption.
  • To strengthen these efforts, OMRON became the first Japanese manufacturer to join the international corporate initiative "EP100" and has declared a goal of doubling the energy productivity of its manufacturing bases by 2040.
  • OMRON provides the technologies and solutions and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society through the entire value chain, including its customers and partners.

In addition to these climate change, Ms. Ojiambo expressed interest in the relationship between technology and people. In order to meet these expectations, OMRON will continue to work to build manufacturing sites that support a sustainable future in which both the coexistence of the global environment and the satisfaction of working can be achieved, and will strive to realize a society in which the pursuit of individuality is compatible with the affluence of society as a whole through its long-term vision of " We Will Continue to Create 窶廬nnovation Driven by Social Needs窶 through Automation to Empower People."
